Dandruff

Persistent flaking on the scalp — choose the routine that matches your type.

Understanding Your Scalp Condition

Mechanism: Dandruff (Pityriasis) is caused by accelerated shedding of the scalp's outer layer. It shows up as either fine, dry flakes or thicker, oily flakes, depending on sebum levels.

Why it persists: Without regular exfoliation and targeted treatment, dead skin cells and — in oily dandruff — excess sebum continue to build up, keeping the cycle going.

What improves when treated: Targeted shampoos and lotions clear existing flakes, regulate the scalp, and slow the cell turnover that causes them to return.

Note: This page describes a care routine, not a medical diagnosis.

Dry Dandruff

The most common type — fine, white flakes that detach easily and fall onto shoulders. No inflammation or itching.

FAQs

How do I know if my dandruff is dry or oily?
Dry dandruff produces fine, powdery white flakes with no itching. Oily dandruff produces yellowish, sticky flakes and often comes with itching or burning.

Can dandruff lead to hair loss?
Left untreated, chronic oily dandruff (seborrheic dermatitis) can contribute to hair thinning over time. Treating it early helps prevent this.

Can I use this with coloured hair?
Yes. All DSD de Luxe formulations are safe for colour-treated hair. Apply the peeling to the scalp only, avoiding freshly coloured lengths for 48 hours.

Is this safe in pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Most DSD formulas are cosmetic-grade and safe, but we recommend consulting your healthcare provider before beginning active treatments during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
